Dove Rhetoric Advertisement: "Your skin. Our planet. | Protecting and restoring forests' real beauty"
The example I chose is a dove advertisement video. This ad is an example of rhetoric because it is persuasive in the way the video makes you feel. Dove is a brand that produces many hygiene products like deodorant, soap, lotion, etc. Watching this video makes you want to purchase dove products because they were working to protect our rainforests (creating campaigns). In terms of logos, dove has the reasoned argument because they were working in the southeast asia area to help our forests. They want to help save/restore the environment and keep nature and the animals who live there safe. With ethos, they are credible because they are a very well known company and have the funds to help the environment. They are making a dove action project and include their website so people can look over and see exactly what they are doing to help.
Going to their website you can learn more, but dove is trying to get across that they are using ingredients not harmful to the environment to save our planet, but also help your skin. They also relate human bodies to the beautiful parts of nature. Everyone is beautiful just like nature is. Stretch marks are not ugly and they can be related to beautiful growing mushrooms. Or scars being beautiful like a river. It makes us feel good about ourselves when we think of it in those terms. Instead of bringing yourself down, dove has made you think in different ways and see your body in a new light. Instead of thinking scars are ugly, you can think of a beautiful river that has that same pattern. If our body has things similar to nature then it should all be thought of as beautiful. With dove including what they are doing to help save the environment, and relating it to human bodies, it makes you want to go out and buy their products. Seeing a company relate to insecurities people have but making people see their insecurities in a new light is amazing.
